Lucknow: Newstrack XI, the official Cricket team of online web portal newstrack.com, defeated The Youth Photojournalist Association (TYPA) by 4 runs in a friendly match at the Gaus Mohammad Stadium here on Sunday.

Ashutosh Tripathi was the game-changer and the pick of bowlers for Newstrack XI, claiming a fifer. Sharib Jafri and Rinkal Sharma picked two and one wickets respectively. Rinkal, Samarth and Sharib engineered Newstrack to a decent total of 53 runs in 12 overs.

Winning the toss, TYPA invited Newstrack to bat. Newstrack did not get a decent start as lost its openers Manmohan Pal and Ashutosh Tripathi in the first two overs. Then, Rinkal and Samarth thrived on pressure situation, helping Newstrack take a higher ground. Rinkal and Samarth made TYPA attack look pedestrians, making out the best partnership of the game.

When Samarth was playing free flowing shots against the lethal bowling attack, he became prey of a very loose delivery.

Then wickets in the form of Aman and Anurag Shukla fell cheaply. Sharib Jafri stood at one end and kept the scoreboard ticking.

When Newstrack was once again prospering, Rinkal Sharma departed in an attempt to go for a biggie. He was caught by Modi. He hit the only boundary scored in the game.

Abhishek Shahi turned out to be a star bowler for TYPA.

Chasing a 54-run target, TYPA got off to a decent start, scoring runs on a needed run-rate. Newstrack, despite bowling correct lengths, failed to provide them with early blows. Newstrack got the first success in fourth over, leaving TYPA fail to weigh in together since then.

TYPA batsmen were severely mauled by star spinner Ashutosh Tripathi who made them struggle to even rotate the strike. The handy spells of Sharib and Rinkal were icing on the cake for Newstrack.

Anurag Shukla’s wicket-keeping skills with swift stumpings and flash dives worked aptly for Newstrack. His wicket keeping skills were even appreciated by the opponent side.

Satyendra and Abhishek Shahi were the only batsmen to provide some colour for their side.
