Fodder Scam: CBI sentences Lalu Yadav to 3.5 years in jail, fined Rs 5 lakh

New Delhi: Rashtriya Janta Dal chief and Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment following his alleged involvement in fodder scam case.

The special court of Central Bureau of Investigation headed by Judge Shivpal Singh announced the order via video conferencing from Birsa Munda Central Jail.

He was also charged with the fine of Rs. 5 lakh in the case. Along with Lalu Yadav, seven others who were involved and sentenced in the case are Phool Chand, Mahesh Prasad, Bake Julious, Sunil Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Sudhir Kumar and Raja Ram.

The court had on December 23 convicted Lalu Prasad and 15 others in the case relating to the multi-million-rupee scam.
