After assisting renowned filmmakers like Rajkumar Santoshi and gaining ample cinema experience, Divyansh Pandit has spearheaded a short film titled, Karta Tu Dharta Tu – A Tribute to Mumbai Police.

The talented director, nominated at the Filmfare Awards this year was always determined to create cinema of value including short films, that have gone viral in the social media circuits. This time the filmmaker’s production house, Wild Buffaloes Entertainment, put together another inspiring story, dedicated to the Khakee Knights that guard the city and its formidable spirit.

The launch of Karta Tu Dharta Tu – A Tribute to Mumbai Police was carried out with much fanfare. Talented actor Emraan Hashmi along with the guest of honour, Amruta Fadnavis were present at the event.

Both the honourable guests spoke about the short film and its relevance at length and expressed their deepest gratitude to the Mumbai Police Force. They also congratulated Divyansh and inaugurated the launch of his short film along with the filmmaker.

Emraan Hashmi says, “Bringing out the right emotions, pushing the right buttons and at the same time not forcing the audience to feel those emotions – all in just ten minutes is truly commendable. The first credit goes to the Mumbai Police. As a Mumbaikar, I feel very proud and secure and that is because of the responsibility the Mumbai Police shoulder.”

Adds Amruta Fadnavis, “I was extremely touched watching this movie. They say all men are born equal. But there are exceptions. They are the policemen and their families. When they get out of their houses, they are not aware by when they’ll be back or if they’ll be coming back at all. That is the kind of sacrifice they put forth for the country, for us to live happily. I thank the entire police fraternity for the kind of work they have been doing.”

Shedding light on the inspiration to create the film, Divyansh said, “I was driving home from my office at 2:00 AM. I saw some cops help a man who was not able to start his car due to water logging. Those cops pushed the car and helped him. I was really happy to see that. I realized what they do is actually a very thankless service.”

Amassing tremendous number of views on Facebook, the short film was lauded by superstars and various artists of the Indian cinema over Twitter, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Randeep Hooda, Pritish Nandy, Remo D’Souza, Adnan Sami and Armaan Malik, who not only praised Divyansh for his brilliant work, but also thanked the Mumbai Police for their bravery and sacrifices.

Touched by the responses from the stalwarts of the film industry, Divyansh said, “I’m so happy that living legends like Amitabh Bachchanji, Srideviji, Shah Rukh sir, Hrithik Roshan sir and Anil Kapoor sir tweeted in our support. It boosted the morale of my team. Randeep Hooda sir, Adnan Sami sir, Pritish Nandy sir and Armaan Malik were also kind enough to tweet about our film.”

Presented by Wild Buffaloes Entertainment, Karta Tu Dharta Tu – A Tribute to Mumbai Police, is written, directed and produced by Divyansh Pandit.
